Intercultural connections, local impact.

I want to volunteer

Who are we

MINT – Mo i Rana International is a volunteer organization that brings together newcomers and the local community. We create meeting places where people from different backgrounds can get to know each other, connect, and build genuine friendships -  because we believe no one should have to settle into a new place alone.

What we do

We organize activities and events that bring people together and support newcomers as they settle into a new place. Through our events and network, we want everyone to feel at home here in Rana.

At MINT, you don’t just participate — you can also share ideas and help create new projects together with others.

Many of our members have had the same questions: How do you dress for a Norwegian winter? What’s the difference between langrenn, fjellski, slalåm, and randonnée? No question is too basic here — just ask.

About us

Our Story

MINT started in 2019 as a social network within the “Welcome to Mo i Rana” project, ran by Rana Utvikling. As the need for long-term community building became clear, we established ourselves as an independent organization in 2023 and formally registered as a voluntary organization in 2024.

In 2025, a new board took over with a clear ambition: to professionalize the work and ensure that what we have built continues to last.

Our Vision

A city where every resident, regardless of background, feels welcomed, valued, and part of the community.

By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds with local families, businesses, and cultural institutions, we are building a resilient and inclusive Mo i Rana — where everyone has a place to belong.

Why We Exist

We believe inclusion is about more than finding a job. It is about finding a home and feeling connected to the place you live. When people have real social networks around them, they are more likely to stay, contribute, and put down roots.

Our mission is to create meeting places where those connections happen naturally — over a cup of coffee, on a walk through the city, or on the dance floor.

The Organisation and The Board

MINT has been registered as a voluntary organization in the Register of Business Enterprises since 2024. Our board consists of eight members, including both local and international residents — a mix we value and aim to maintain.

Every June, we hold our General Assembly, where anyone interested in joining the board can present themselves. This is also when we elect or re-elect the board chair, deputy chair, and treasurer.
